Two of Hearts: The Dove

The two of hearts represents a relationship in which vulnerability is unavoidable, meaning respect and trust is as well, if cooperation is to be accomplished. Considering all of what the Two of Hearts represents, the Dove was an easy and obvious choice as the medicine for this card. The Dove’s desire is to nest and create the peaceful environment that allows for love.

Dove medicine in relation to this card teaches the importance of finding home in the warmth and comfort of the living hearth—that is to say, in gathering with others that make you feel most at home and at one with yourself.

Doves also nurture relationships. There’s a reason we borrow phrases inspired by them, such as lovers “cooing,” couples “nesting,” and “lovey-dovey.” They recouple with another bird only if they’ve survived the loss of their mate, whom they’re otherwise devoted to for life. Their love for harmony is perhaps why, spiritually, they embody purity, peace and hope, all of which aid in creating the essence of trust, support and a strong partnership.

Build whatever important relationship lies before you with the spirit of the dove, and incorporate the elements that allow for vulnerability, while focusing on respect, so that trust can grow and potential can take wing!
