Two of Clubs: The Coyote
The result is a card that represents acceptance, peace and a sense of detached understanding. It’s a card of like-mindedness, mental attraction, and curiosity. This card asks us to view what is separate from ourselves with a sense of detachment, to truly understand the situation, before we take action or fully judge.
Because the two of clubs asks that we observe our reality with an air of detachment and acceptance, coyote medicine becomes the perfect subject for this card. In many Native American Indian traditions, coyote regards everything as sacred and nothing as sacred all at once. He is a friend, reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously, and miss out on the fun or a great opportunity.
Coyote wisdom is often disguised in a witty remark or joke, though this trickster ends up playing himself much of the rest of the time. Coyote is the mirror that shows us our shadow and makes us dare to laugh at the ridiculousness of our own inadequacies, faults or mistakes, rather than wallowing in pity or stagnation. The medicine is hard to swallow at first, but it makes the rest of life easier.
As the two of clubs asks us to observe our selves as separate from our outer reality, the coyote medicine reminds us to take heart in the colorful array of opportune times to observe and laugh and play, see and think, and above all, open our eyes.
