The Darshan concept of eyes: they are drawn last, because eyes give life to the relationship between the gazer and the work of art. The idea is that when the Divine has been given eyes to peer out at the devotee, the devotee can finally understand that while gazing up at the image of the Divine, the Divine gazes back at them, thereby seeing itself reflected in the eyes of the devotee. This idea is aimed at helping the Devotee realize that Divinity is a shared relationship, one that lives after it is recognized as present and coming from within. Trataka is a practice I personally use with incredible results. It’s a sight-based meditation style that focuses on activating the parasympathetic nervous system.
