Two of Diamonds: The Peacock 🦚
The two of diamonds represents an explosion of fiery, productive and brilliant energy. It’s the card that indicates it’s time to bring out ones best, and rise to whatever challenge, competition or rivalry lies ahead. It can also indicate gifts of wealth or a rivalry, which if done right, brings out a person’s best self.
First, the peacock is the image and animal of the goddess of wealth and beauty, Lakshmi. Second, this card asks us to rise to the occasion if we are to reap the bounty, as with hard work, competition or opposition, we become more beautiful, more knowledgeable and stronger than we were before. The peacock is the closest thing we have to a real version of the mythical Phoenix. Though they are beautiful, they are fearless. Being one of the biggest flying birds, they make their nests on the ground by choice. When a peacock meets a snake, even a king cobra, he fights to the death and if victorious, eats his rival, transmuting the poison to plumes of brilliant color.
The Hindu scriptures name the image of a peacock killing a snake as the symbol of the cycle of time itself. Peacock requests we rise to the occasion, despite the odds. If we rise to meet it like a hero of old, we have taken on the fearless heart of the peacock, well suited to the Two of Diamonds.
